Sheet Metal with Hooks - Dramatically improves bonding with other materials

This process produces thousands of mechanically extruded hooks and grooves in the surface of sheet metal. The hooks ensure a good mechanical bond or grip to other materials such as plastic, rubber, concrete, wood, and fibre glass.

Used for:
The process has been used for years in automotive brake manufacturing to secure a strong and durable bond between the metal brake pad and the friction material. It is now available to other industries, where it can be used to produce composite panels and metal-clad laminates. It can also reinforce soft materials (e.g. textiles) which can then be permanently shaped.

The hooks can be created on nearly any type of coiled metal, but steel and aluminium are most commonly used. The thickness of the sheet metal can range from 0.3 mm to 10 mm. Different hook geometries and hook densities are available for different applications.

Use a thin sheet metal with hooks on both sides as an intermediate layer in sandwich panels with foam core to lower the risk of delamination.

The sample:
The sample has hooks on both sides and measures 10 cm x 10 cm - see the photo.

All samples come with a laminated information card, which includes contact details for the manufacturer.

PS. We will send you a PDF of the datasheet for the material. We will CC the supplier when sending the mail, so you have the contact details if you need more information or support.
