Open-Structured Polyester Web

Highly elastic and breathable cushioning material.

This lightweight material is made from extruded polyester elastomer. It offers excellent cushioning, and the open structure makes it highly breathable. The material can be easily washed and dried and does not absorb moisture, so it is more hygienic than foams. The polyester is a thermoplastic so the material can be easily recycled.

Applications for the open-structured polyester web: 

It is used as an alternative to polyurethane foam for mattresses and cushioning for furniture. One application is for mattresses in hospitals because of its humidity- and temperature-regulating abilities.

More information:

It is possible to vary the density and the thickness of the threads, allowing the material to have different properties for different applications. The polyester develops less toxic smoke in a fire than polyurethane foams.

Inspiration for new applications:

Use it for fast-drying cushions and seats for garden furniture or sailboats.
