ASA - Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate Plastic Sample

Impact- and weather-resistant thermoplastic for outdoor use.

Acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) is an amorphous thermoplastic copolymer derived from acrylonitrile, styrene, and acrylic ester. Developed as a weather-resistant alternative to acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), ASA offers superior resistance to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, moisture, and environmental stress cracking.

It exhibits good impact strength, rigidity, and dimensional stability. The material combines the toughness and processability of ABS with an acrylic component that enhances weatherability and colour retention. It resists yellowing, chalking, and surface degradation under prolonged outdoor exposure.

Common applications include automotive exterior parts, outdoor furniture, sports equipment, and building facades. ASA is also used in 3D printing filaments for objects requiring UV and weather stability. Its balance of mechanical performance and long-term durability makes ASA a preferred choice for both indoor and outdoor engineering applications.
