Silicone Sheet - Offers high temperature resistance and weather resistance

€10.00

Silicone is chemically inert, food safe, and can withstand temperatures up to 230°C. It is also resistant to aging and degradation from sunlight and ozone; it will not break down or become discoloured if used outdoors.

Used for:
Silicone sheets are used industrially for chemically resistant O-rings, seals, and gaskets. Soft sticky silicone patches are applied onto surgery (and other) scars where they create an improved healing environment.

Details:
Silicone sheeting is available on rolls in many thicknesses and colours with hardnesses ranging from 10 to 70 Shore A. Silicone has a very low surface energy; it is therefore difficult to decorate or glue silicone products without additional surface treatments. There are variants that are thermally or electrically conductive.

Idea:
Make a soft reusable drinking pouch that can be sterilised by boiling in water. It could also be used for a weather-resistant sunshade that allows some light to pass through.

The sample:
The sample has a hardness of 60 Shore A and an elongation at tear of 300 percent. It is covered with a thin layer of talc to prevent the sheet from sticking to itself.

You can get a small sample with a laminated information card or you can get a sheet measuring 50 cm x 24 cm.
