Wood Tubes - Lightweight and durable wood tubes

€12.00

These lightweight plywood tubes are made by laminating thin sheets of veneer around a rod which is then removed. Different types of wood, or coloured veneer, can be used for the inner and outer sheets to modify the look and feel of the finished tubes. The tubes can be easily processed with traditional wood-processing tools.

What is the wood tube used for:

The tubes are used for furniture components such as table legs or poles for shelving systems. They are also used for interior design products.

Details:

The tubes are available in lengths up to six meters with an inner diameter up to 100 mm and a wall thickness from 1 to 10 mm. The use of wood tubes instead of solid wood rods can reduce both weight and material consumption.

Idea:

Use wood tubes for eye-catching packaging for perfumes and jewellery. They can also be used for a sustainable lightweight broom shaft or as a stylish cover for hot disposable coffee cups.

The sample:

You get a tube with a length of 80 mm. The inner diameter is 30 mm and the wall thickness is 3 mm.

All samples come with a laminated information card, which includes contact details for the supplier.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Can these tubes be made weather proof to be used outdoors?

The wood tube is made of layers of glued veneer, so it will delaminate if it is not weatherproofed. It can be painted or varnished with the same products as you would use for plywood.

  • Can tubes be made 50 cm long with a diameter of 4 cm

The manufacturer can customize the tube. It is possible to specify the inner and outer diameter as well as the type of wood used for both the load bearing walls and the outer surface. The inner diameter can be between 20 mm and 100 mm.

The information card that is attached to the sample we sell includes contact information for the manufacturer.
