LDPE - Low-Density Polyethylene Sample

Low-cost, flexible plastic commonly used in packaging and films.

LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) is a widely used thermoplastic made from ethylene gas. It is known for its flexibility, toughness, and excellent resistance to moisture and chemicals. LDPE has a low melting point (around 105–115°C), making it easy to process using methods like extrusion, and injection moulding and blow moulding.

This material is commonly found in everyday items such as plastic bags, squeeze bottles, food wraps, and various containers. Its softness and ductility make it ideal for applications requiring pliability without sacrificing durability.

Although LDPE is not as strong or heat-resistant as some other plastics, its low cost and versatility make it a popular choice in both industrial and consumer products. It is recyclable (identified by recycling code #4).
