Membrane Potentiometer - Accurate position measurement with low space requirement

€14.00

The resistance of this inexpensive membrane potentiometer changes linearly according to where pressure on the strip is applied, and it can therefore be used to accurately measure a position. The potentiometer can be activated directly by finger touch or with mechanical controls using sliding or rolling wipers. It has a thickness of just 0.5 mm and therefore requires very little installation space.

Used for:
The potentiometer is used for industrial controls, audio controls, and motion controls.

Details:
It is available with active lengths from 10 mm to 1000 mm. There is a range of standard stock sizes, and customised variants are available with low tooling costs. There is also a non-contact variant that is activated by a magnet. The service life is dependent on the slider implementation, but it is typically more than one million cycles.

Idea:
Design a lamp where the dimming is controlled by repositioning a magnet on the lampshade.

Try it:
Use an ohmmeter to test the functionality.

The sample:
The sample is glued to cardboard (see product photo) and has an active sensing area with a length of 50 mm.

All samples come with a laminated information card, which includes contact details for the supplier.
