Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) - Has high elasticity and excellent temperature resistance

€12.00

Liquid silicone rubber features high elasticity and has excellent electrical, chemical, and temperature resistance.

Moulded silicone parts are made by mixing two liquid components and injecting them into a heated mould where the mixture vulcanises to solid silicone plastic. The mixture’s low viscosity makes it possible to mould complex part geometries with thin features.

The silicone can be formulated with hardnesses ranging from a very soft gel to a tough flexible plastic (Shore 10A to 80A).

Used for:

It is used to make baby bottle nipples, medical catheters, gaskets, kitchen goods, toys, and protective phone covers. It can also be moulded onto other plastics and metals to make soft grips or flexible hinges (see our silicone overmoulding sample).

Details:

Liquid silicone rubber maintains its properties in temperatures ranging from -50°C to 250°C. It is translucent and can be pigmented to any colour. Because it is a thermosetting polymer, it will not melt when heated. Therefore it is also difficult to recycle.

All samples come with a laminated information card, which includes contact details for the supplier.
