Knitted Metal Mesh - Easy-to-manufacture metal wire mesh

€10.00

Metal wire is knitted using the same procedure as in garment knitting. The knitting process creates a tube that can be slit to create a flat mesh with a width up to 100 cm. Most metal can be knitted but stainless steel, copper, or brass is often used. The mesh can be manufactured with a broad range of loop (stitch) sizes.

Applications for knitted metal mesh:

It is used for interior design, decorative elements on fashion items, animal enclosures, cut-resistant gloves, and vandalism protection in train seats. Rolled-up mesh is used for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding gaskets, and pressed mesh is used for durable filters and vents.

Details:

Knitted mesh can, unlike woven mesh, be stretched both sideways and lengthwise. The typical wire diameter is 0.11 mm to 0.35 mm, but it is possible to use wires with diameters from 0.03 mm to 0.8 mm. There are a number of post-knitting processes available such as pressing, crimping, calendaring, folding, and rolling.

Idea:

Use it for a decorative cable concealer for TV cables.
