The label tracks and displays the time that a product has been open or has been in use. This is achieved by ink migrating through a micro-porous material via capillary action at a constant rate.

It is used to indicate the freshness of perishable food. It is also used to remind users to change filters in, for example, air conditioners and refrigeration appliances. It has been integrated in a lip gloss to provide a clear visual indication of when it should be discarded.
Details:
It is available in variants that can measure elapsed time from minutes up to a year or more. The process is temperature-dependent, and there are therefore variations for room temperature, fridge, and freezer uses. The retail version is delivered as a sample, but it is also possible to integrate it into other products.
